Welcome
Welcome to the 578 (Langley Park) Squadron website. On this website you will be able to find out everything you need to know about what we do as air cadets and the opportunities open to you as a member. The Air Training Corps is an established youth organisation for teenagers aged between 13 and 18 and offers opportunities that would not otherwise be available to you - flying, gliding, shooting etc - you could even fly a Glider solo before you are old enough to drive!
We also have opportunities, both uniformed and Civilian, for Adults who want to volunteer their services to help run activities for the cadets and have many of the same opportunities open to them as the cadets do.
Maggie's Night hike
We again have two teams taking part in this event to help raise money for maggie's cancer centres, please feel free help us to raise funds for this worthy cause
The two teams are competing against each other to see who can raise the most for Maggie's. The just giving widgets below show how the teams are doing and enable you to donate.

578 Squadron RAF Reunion
Saturday 15th May 2010
Six cadets from the squadron made the journey to York during May to join wartime veterans of 578 Sqn RAF for their annual reunion. During the visit Sgt Walters, Cpls Formon, Latham, Woolloff, Gill and King took part in a service at Selby Abbey in remembrance of the 219 aircrew from the squadron who did not return to the home base at Burn, south of York, where the unit was based throughout its short existence in 1944-45. Three of those remembered were Flight Sergeants Harry Hill and William Ballard and Sergeant Thomas Robinson whose Halifax bomber crashed near Biggin Hill returning from Germany in 1944.
After the service Cpl Woolloff placed a wreath on the grave of 578’s leader Wing Commander David Wilkerson.
The cadets were also invited to the squadron’s reunion dinner where each was presented with a badge depicting the squadron’s crest by one of the veterans. After dinner the cadets took part in the entertainments armed with tambourines and maracas.
The next day saw another service of remembrance in Burn village where Cpl King laid a wreath at the memorial stone to the squadron before venturing onto the airfield, now home of the Burn Gliding Club.
